Message from our PTA President

Good evening, Mohr families!

A huge thank you to Hellen Tam and Laura Zhang for putting together a wonderful Lunar New Year celebration last Friday night! It was a fun-filled evening, and we thank them for all their efforts. They couldn't have done it without the many volunteers who put in countless hours as well. Hope everyone had a great time, and happy Year of the Rooster!

Thanks,
Kirk Gottschalk
Mohr PTA President

Pennies for Patients for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

February 14 - 24, 2017

Pennies for PatientsOur school has accepted the challenge of helping to find a cure for blood cancer! We are joining over 29,000 schools across the nation to make a difference and raise as much money as we can. Our school goal is to raise at least $500.

Friends Helping Friends is hosting a dollar drive from February 14 - 24. If you would like, please bring any kind of dollar ($1, $5, etc...), coins, or a check (made out to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society) in an envelope or baggie to school. They can be turned into your child's teacher. Every little bit helps Mohr Elementary make a difference in other lives!

Your donations help families of patients pay for medicines, doctors, or other expenses, and also help fund research focused on finding a cure. Thank you for your support in this ongoing battle against blood cancer!

Science Fair

Boards on sale - Tuesday, February 14, 2017
Science Fair - March 14, 2017

Science FairWe are excited to share with you information regarding this year's Mohr Science Fair! The Science Fair is on March 14, and we are looking forward to this annual event here at Mohr.

On Tuesday, February 14, we will be selling the Science Fair proboards that students use to display their experiments. We have always done this as a courtesy and convenience to our future scientists. The boards are sold at cost and are a lower price than buying them at the store. Each board sells for $3.50. We will sell the boards until they are gone. On Tuesday, your child can purchase a board after school in the library. We will be selling them at 1:55pm for the morning readers who are dismissed earlier. All other students can buy their boards at 2:50pm. Checks can be made out to Mohr PTA.

We are looking forward to another successful Science Fair. If you have any questions you can email Mrs. Stanford or Susmita Patniak.

Fun Run for STEAM

Wednesday, March 29, 2017

Mohr School will be holding a Fun Run for STEAM on Wednesday, March 29. A committee of PTA parents is working together to make this a successful fundraising event, and we are on the search for some great sponsors! If you or someone you know owns a business, please consider becoming a sponsor. If you do not own a business, and you would like to be a sponsor, we would be happy to list your name on the back of our new fun t-shirts! Download the flyer for more information about becoming a sponsor.

In the next few weeks, you will see information from PledgeStar about setting up your child's unique donation page. PledgeStar helped our PTA to collect donations on our last Fun Run, and this company makes it easy and fun for your child to send emails asking for donations. If you have any questions, please contact Rachel Cisneros or Shishir Gundavaram at committeechairs@mohrpta.org.

The day winds up with an Awards Ceremony and Expo, featuring activities for kids and vendors from the surrounding community. Register now! Or visit the PPIE Run for Education web site for more information!

Running Club

We have some great runners out on the field! It's not too late to join Run Club. We meet Thursdays from 3:00-3:30pm. For safety reasons, children need to be signed up online in advance by Monday at 5pm. We meet at the bench next to the basketball court. Kids need to sign in when they arrive. It is not a drop-in program. Please let us know if your child will not be attending a particular week or has dropped out. We want to make sure all the kids are accounted for. Thanks! And keep on running! Contact Lisa Regev at committeechairs@mohrpta.org for more info.
